Club 99: Part 1: Read this and Watch out for Part 2...
Long ago, there lived a King. This King should have been contented with his life, given all the riches and luxuries he had. However, this was not the case! The King always found himself wondering why he just never seemed content with his life. Sure, he had the attention of everyone wherever he went, attended fancy dinners and parties, but somehow, he still felt something was lacking and he couldn’t put his finger on it. One day, the King entered his huge living room and came to a stop when he heard someone happily singing…. following this singing... he saw it was one of the servants and had a very contented look on his face. This fascinated the King, and he summoned this man to his chambers. The King asked why he was so happy?
To
this the man replied: “Your Majesty, I am nothing but a servant, but I make
enough of a living to keep my wife and children happy. We don’t need too much,
a roof over our heads and warm food to fill our tummy. My wife and
children are my inspiration, they are content with whatever little I bring
home. I am happy because my family is happy.” Hearing this, the King summoned
his Personal Assistant to his chambers. The King related his personal anguish
about his feelings and then related the story of the servant to his Personal
Assistant, hoping that somehow, he will be able to come up with some reasoning
that here was a King who could have anything he wished for at a snap of his
fingers and yet was not contented, whereas, his servant, having so little was
extremely contented.
The
Personal Assistant came up with an idea and said, “Your Majesty, I believe that
the servant has not been made part of The 99 Club.”
“The
99 Club? And what exactly is that?” the King inquired. To which the Assistant
replied, “Your Majesty, to truly know what The 99 Club is, you will have to do
the following... place 99 Gold coins in a bag and leave it at this servant’s
doorstep, you will then understand what The 99 Club is.” That same evening, the
King arranged for 99 Gold coins to be placed in a bag at the servant’s
doorstep. Although he was slightly hesitant and thought he should have put
100 Gold coins into the bag, but since his assistant had advised him to put 99
that is what he did. The servant was just stepping out of his house
when he saw a bag at his doorstep. Wondering about its contents, he took it into
his house and opened the bag. When he opened the bag, he let out a great big
shout of joy...
Gold
Coins.... so many of them….. To be continued.

Critical thinking:
So, what do you think happened to the servant?
What did he do to the gold coins or what did the gold coins do to him?
What are you thinking about the club 99?
Maybe
your guess is as good as mine… Kindly share as we wait to see real answers in
part 2.
“But Godliness with contentment is a great gain”
ReplyDeleteThe servant may be curious to know why there were 99 gold coins instead of 100
He may also be curious to find out who put it there
He may loose his peace of mind thinking he wish he may be getting that kind of money every time ( if his contentment is not genuine)
If the servant is actually happy with the little he has he may wish to return the money because “the love of money is the root of evil”
But the king is wicked why will he want someone to be unhappy just because he is not happy. “The heart of a man is desperately wicked “
He is suppose to work on his own happiness
I can't think what the 99 club but my guess is the servant would be content with having 99 gold coins because he realizes that a lot. Another person might notice it's only 99 and wouldn't be content until it's 100. I admire how the servant was content and found happiness in what he had. The king had more than him, but still lacked something and craved the happiness the servant had.
ReplyDeleteHe would begin to count the coin until he is convinced that there are 99 of them. If he believes it is God’s sent. He would tell his family with contentment and be happy with his family and show more contentment in his daily activities. But if he doesn’t have such contentment as he claims he would work tirelessly for one more gold coin to make it 100 without contentment at all and unhappy mood. The 99 club are people that are contented.
ReplyDeleteI think the servant, from the information provided is seeing this as a blessing, he might’ve prayed to God to provide for him and the prayer was answered in that form. I’m excited to find out what happens next!
ReplyDeleteI think the servant took the bag of coins. He used the gold coins to help improve his life but he was content with it being 99 coins. I would say club 99 involves people that are satisfied with what they get and do not worry themselves about what they don't have.
ReplyDeleteI think the servant will continue to be content with what he has and see the 99 Gold coin as a blessing for him and his family, even if it was 1 gold coin or 50, with the little he use to have he will still remain his content self.
ReplyDeleteI think the servant will be curious about who left the bag of money there rather than the amount in the bag. From the previous interaction he seems grateful in general for life and how he is able to upkeep his family, he will see this as a blessing.
